New Service Rings Up Discounts With Mobile Coupons SAN DIEGO. -- Sept., 7, 2006 – San Diego-based Astroleap today launched eureka!mobile, a new mobile software application enabling users to access, save and redeem location-based coupons, discounts and promotions via their wireless phone. eureka!mobile allows users to quickly search their immediate area for various categories of products and services, gaining access to discounts, promotions and coupons -- all via their cell phone. The service is initially available exclusively to Southern California Cingular customers, who will have access to discounts from more than 1,000 local businesses and vendors by the end of the month. A wider roll-out is scheduled for later this year. “We’re transforming the cell phone from an expense into a money-saving tool, allowing consumers to take advantage of discounts they want, when they want them,” said Dan Bailey, Co-founder of Astroleap. “One of the biggest challenges with paper coupons from both the business as well as the user perspective is that customers do not have the coupons with them when they are ready to make their purchase. Now, customers will always have access to their coupons via their mobile device.” In addition to coupons and discounts, consumers are able to receive relevant information about the businesses around them such as driving directions, maps, address, and phone numbers. If a coupon is available the user can selectively save it to the phone, then access it when ready to redeem it: at the point of purchase. To start enjoying the savings, users can receive the eureka!mobile application by texting the word EUREKA to 90430 from your Cingular phone. The user will then receive a download link and instructions on their phone via SMS. Alternately, users can go to www.eurekamobile.com, enter their phone number, and a download link will be sent to their mobile phone. Local and national brands advertising or offering discounts via eureka!mobile include Wienerschnitzel, Del Taco, Juice It Up!, Discount Tires, and Postal Annex. For businesses, eureka!mobile provides a new marketing medium to drive traffic and revenue, especially with younger, wireless-savvy customers. “This allows us to connect with a customer when they’re in the act of making their purchasing decision, and it puts us on a level playing field with other larger brands,” said Joe Busalacchi, owner of the Sportsmen’s Seafood restaurant located in Mission Beach. “We’re focused on offering a broad range of national and local vendors,” said Bailey. “Consumers want the name-brands, but they also want local information and resources, whether it’s the local coffee shop or a mom-and-pop restaurant.”
